Surgeries

Surgical Expansion: 16.9% Growth in Lifesaving Procedures.

Niger Foundation Hospital surgical team during a procedure

  • 741 total surgeries performed: a 16.9% increase from 2024
  • Eye Clinic procedures surged 39.8% to 1,575
  • 429 cataract surgeries performed FREE in a single week (July 2025)
  • Growing capacity for trauma, obstetric, and specialized procedures

Every surgery represents a life transformed:

  • A grandmother who can see her grandchildren's faces again
  • A breadwinner who returns to work and provides for their family
  • A mother who survives a high-risk delivery and goes home with her baby

Surgery doesn't just save lives: it restores livelihoods, dignity, and hope for entire families.

Doctor screening an elderly patient during the NFH cataract mission

Restoring Sight to 429 People.

In July 2025, NFH partnered with GB Foods and the Elena Barraquer Foundation to execute a transformative free cataract surgery mission. Over one week, 429 sight-restoring surgeries were completed, following community screening for more than 1,100 individuals. This mission perfectly embodies our social subsidy spirit: providing life-altering, high-quality surgical care to those who could never afford it. This is the power of partnership in action.
