The mission of Niger Foundation Hospital is deeply rooted in a specific spiritual vision that transcends mere philanthropy. The founders of NFH were inspired to begin this health project by the teachings of Saint Josemaria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei, who taught that professional work, when done with love and excellence, is a path to encountering God.

At NFH, our standard of care is directly inspired by Saint Josemaria's profound insight: in the sick, we should see Christ Himself, and we should serve them with the same love and devotion that we would show to Him.

Consequently, we view the presence of the Priest at NFH as being as vital as the presence of the Surgeon. As an institution of the Catholic Church, the Prelature of Opus Dei provides the spiritual and pastoral means necessary for the hospital to maintain and develop its Christian identity.
